The Client
A nutrition activist who suffered 8 years from no revenues when business coaching finally helped him to turn a profit.
The Brief
This client came to the Business Sanctuary as the final attempt to make his business work. The past 8 years he had spent working ‘for free’ on creating a business out of his passion for nutrition and well-being. He simply could not find a way to package his knowledge and develop a profitable delivery method. Therefore the brief for our working relationship was simple:
- ‘Fly or die’ testing of his business
- Develop and shape profit models (tangible products and services) to generate immediate income
- Create a business concept that can be scaled to support his passion
The Work
The first stop for our work together was the careful review and analysis of the business thus far. It became very obvious very quickly that the client had accumulated lots of information and materials but lacked a consistent message, a clear understanding of his target audience and a packaged deliverable that could easily be priced and shared.
Also as much as the passion was a powerful driver, the client found it difficult to prioritize his workload and got easily overwhelmed by the ‘mountain’ he felt he had to climb. He was easily distracted and fell victim to the entrepreneurial by-product of idea overload.
Once the intensive review had given us all the information we needed, we set about clearly defining a road-map for the next 3 months. This included specific financial targets, narrowing his focus on niche markets and creating a service menu to suit the needs of those niches. With varying price tags, affordability for most prospects became within easy reach.
The Result
Equipped with a clear idea of product, price and place, he excelled in achieving his financial targets. Within 6 months he advanced to a healthy $4,500 p/m and by the end of our first 12 months together, he was edging on earning a cool $10,000 per month.
Today he is a self-published author, much sought after, well-paid speaker and alliance partner to third-party providers who have helped to create the external credibility to raise his fees beyond all expectations.
But what’s more, he finally has managed to develop his passion into a highly profitable and successful business entity. Something he could not conceive only 2 years earlier, where he had been ready to walk away.
